The Ministry of Education (MoE), represented by the School Education Development and Restructuring Project Office, is visiting schools in Muscat and North Batinah that will impart vocational and technical education in the 2023/2024 academic year.
The visits kicked off on Sunday and will continue till Wednesday with an aim to introduce subjects like business administration and information technology, distribute study material, and demonstrate teaching methods and evaluation criterion.
Vocational and technical education will be imparted from the next academic year in the fields of business administration and information technology in Nusseibeh bint Kaab School and Hafs bin Rashid School in Muscat governorate, and Halima al Saadia School in the wilayat of Suwaiq, and Kaab bin Barsha School in Saham, North Batinah.
An introductory programme began with a briefing presented by Mona al Yahyai from the Ministry of Education on BTEC – an international technical vocational programme created by Pearson Educational Company in partnership with Modern College of Commerce and Science.
The programme will qualify students for A2 level, equivalent to two subjects in the British Certificate GCE A Level.
The programme includes basic subjects – Islamic education, Arabic language, mathematics and social studies; four specialised subjects in business administration – Introduction to Business, Commercial Marketing, Commercial Decision-making, and Training in Business World; and specialised subjects in the field of information technology – Information Systems Management, Database Management, Programming and Development, Robotics and Social Media in Business.
