Disabled Access

This map indicates a comprehensive view of accessibility resources of MCBS crucial for individuals with disabilities highlighting the locations of disabled bathrooms, ramps, and wheelchair access points. It serves as a vital tool in ensuring equitable access within the College. By portraying these essential facilities, the map empowers students who require such accommodations to navigate the campus with confidence and ease.

Disabled Access

Enhanced Campus Inclusion & Accessibility Statement

MCBS recognizes the pertinence of social equity and strives to  that our facilities and campuses meet the Universal Design for Learning  (UDL) to enable disability support. This is achieved through a holistic and sensory accessibility approach with the endeavour to achieve a human-centric design by default, rather than upon request.  The aim is to achieve physical, mental and social well-being by integrating this requirement into the Human Resource, IT and Campus Development Policies.

MCBS campus development has focussed on achieving the following

  • Seamless Mobility: All ingress and egress pathways have integrated ramps with 95% of the campus being independently navigable by wheelchair users.  Signages provide clear markings for all egress pathways.
  • Neurodiversity challenges:
    • The library is a dedicated quiet zone to provide quite study spaces to support Neurodivergent students and staff. All 60 Classrooms are fitted with low-frequency acoustic dampening ceiling tiles for sensory-sensitive users who utilize hearing aids or cochlear implants.
    • Provision of Computers, Laptops and iPads equipped with assistive technologies tailored to support Visually Impaired students. Inclusion of specialized software and hardware features such as screen readers, and braille keyboards, ensures that visually impaired students have equal access to educational resources.
  • WCAG 2.2 Alignment: MCBS LMS systems and digital libraries are audited annually for accessibility, ensuring compatibility with screen readers and assistive navigation hardware.

Road Map – AY 2025-27:

  • Provision of reporting disabilities of all spectrums with an aim to close the “attainment gap” entirely by 2030.
  • Creating of a Disability Advisory Board, with representation from academic and non-academic staff, and students, to participate and engage in future campus development activities to ensure all potential barriers to seamless mobility is addressed.
  • Specialized staff training modules on identification of disabilities not reported and building disability confidence among staff and students. This engagement is aimed at developing the MCBS culture, which is not focussed only on the campus but is sustainable and achievable by end of AY 2025-26. 100% of teaching staff to undergo regular training in UDL to ensure curriculum delivery is accessible to diverse learners from the outset.
  • Setting benchmarks for global social impact.
