Innovating the Future of Aviation, Logistics, and Supply Chain 

Muscat, Oman – February 16, 2025 – The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) successfully organised the MCBS Hackathon 2025 from February 13th to 15th, uniting industry leaders, students, and academics to tackle challenges in Aviation, Supply Chain, and Logistics. The event received 100 team submissions from higher education institutions (HEIs) and industry leaders across Oman, Malaysia, and Georgia. Participants engaged in expert-led sessions, collaborative brainstorming, and hands-on mentoring, focusing on creating innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies. 

The Hackathon featured key sessions on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and advanced air mobility, offering valuable insights into emerging trends. Experts including Mr. Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of Al Salam Air, Mr. Firas Al-Muharrami, Technology Strategy & Innovation Lead at Omantel, Mr. Sanjeev Madavi, Chief Innovation Officer at Kale Info Solutions, and Captain Fahad Ibn Masoud, Faculty at MCBS, discussed the future of technology in aviation, AI, and air logistics. Additional insights were provided by Eng. Adil Al Shaibani, Director of Engineering at Al Salam Air, and Mr. Mohammed Murad Albalushi, Senior Cybersecurity Engineer at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The event culminated in mentoring and coaching sessions, where teams refined their business models and prototypes under expert guidance, ensuring their ideas were fully developed and ready for real-world application. 

The event demonstrated the power of teamwork, combining industry expertise with academic knowledge to create sustainable solutions. It reinforced MCBS’s role in Oman’s technological development and its commitment to fostering sustainable innovation across industries. 

Dr. Moosa AlKindi, Dean of MCBS, stated, “This Hackathon demonstrates our commitment to innovation and excellence in higher education. By bringing together talented individuals from diverse fields, we addressed today’s challenges while contributing to a technologically advanced future for Oman.” 

Dr. Amjed Sid Ahmed, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at MCBS, added, “The MCBS Hackathon provided a unique platform to explore innovative solutions across various industries. The ideas generated during this event will help drive the future of technology and innovation, contributing to advancements that will benefit not just Oman, but the broader region.” 

Through initiatives like Hackathon 2025, MCBS bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world application, empowering the next generation of innovators. The event reinforced the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and industries in shaping a sustainable digital transformation.
