MCBS Oman’s First institute to offer BTEC Level III celebrated the graduation of new batch of students

Under the patronage of His Excellency Jamal bin Ahmed Al-Abri, Head of the Education and Research Committee of the Shura Council, and in the presence of Dr. Moosa bin Abdullah Al-Kindi, Dean of the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), and parents, the Modern College of Business and Science celebrated on Saturday morning, August 26, 2023 at the Intercity Hotel in Al Khuwair, the graduation of a new batch of students from the international (BTEC) program, majoring in business administration and information technology. Modern College of Business and Science is the only institution in Oman to offer BTEC Level III program.


In his opening speech, Dr. Moosa bin Abdullah Al-Kindi, Dean of the College, referred to the originality of this international (BTEC) program in terms of its efficiency in professional preparation for its students and providing them with competencies for employability after graduation, and the ability of this type of education to contribute to achieving what Oman Vision 2040. In his speech, the Dean of the College called on the students to benefit from the skills and knowledge they acquired from the program and consider it as a starting point for a successful practical life and to efficiently assume the expected national responsibilities.

His Excellency Jamal bin Ahmed Al Abri, the patron of the ceremony, pointed out the economic importance of the presence of various educational programs in the Sultanate, such as this international program that attracts Omani students as well as international students, which embodies two fundamental issues in the education file, namely, the international cooperation and benefiting from international experiences efficiently on the one hand, and improving the indicator of attracting international students to the Sultanate so that Oman is an educational destination for students from different countries of the world.

Ms. Princy Goerge, the Program Director, has emphasized in her opening speech the central role played by teachers in extending unlimited support to students in a creative way. This has led to impressive results in students learning and personality development, she added. Ms. Goerge also expressed her appreciation of Modern College of Business and Science efforts to provide encouraging learning environment aligned with today’s global developments. Finally, Ms. Goerge invited the students to stick to the values, morals, and ethics they were raised into and honor them every day in their lives and to face life changes with positive spirit and dedication.

Graduate Abdullah Al Busaidi, who delivered graduates speech of this batch, indicated that the (BTEC) system includes various programs that take into account the students’ interests, and students are not expected to study a large number of courses that are not directly related to his academic interests in the future, as it is an international system recognized in the Sultanate and its programs are practical and closely related to the requirements of the labor market, and this gives the graduate better opportunities to join the labor market, either directly or after further education.
