Theme: Innovations and Challenges in Promoting Learner Autonomy

Education is constantly shifting centers due to globalization, technology and knowledge explosion. Classrooms are increasingly becoming heterogeneous, multicultural and digital. Learners find that education is not confined only to classrooms; they need to set their own learning goals. This changing scenario demands that departments offering courses in Social Sciences, Language and Literature need to rethink on fostering learner autonomy and learner independence through curriculum, teaching-learning methods, materials and assessment. Teachers need to facilitate learners to take ownership of their learning and make them capable to undertake the rigors and challenges of the 21st century.


The objectives of the forum are to:

  • Provide teachers, researchers and practitioners a platform to discuss best practices
  • Discuss current trends in teaching and learning
  • Promote dialogue to understand the challenges of fostering learner autonomy
  • Highlight ways to increase intercultural understanding
  • Foster social skills

The Forum invites abstracts on the following tracks:

Submission of Abstracts:

Abstracts should be submitted choosing one of the presentation formats given below.
All presenters are requested to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Title should not be more than 12 words
  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words
  • Bio data of 50 words to be attached along with the abstracts (Sole presenter and 2nd presenter)
Format Time Allotted  
Paper Presentation Oral 30 minutes This is a standard formal oral presentation. The presenter will have 20 minutes to present the research findings. It can be accompanied by power point slides. This will be followed by a 10-minute question – answer session (Sole presenter/ 2nd presenter)
Workshop 60 minutes This is an interactive group activity / task-based session of 40 minutes. Participants will be engaged in activities that have been structured by workshop presenters on a topical issue. This will be followed by 20 minutes of feedback (Sole conductor/ 2nd conductor)
Poster Presentation   Presenters post their research findings graphically through charts, graphs, tables and photos. There is a one-to-one interaction of the presenter with the participants. Handouts can be given by the presenter during interaction. (Sole presenter/ 2nd presenter)

All submissions must be made online. Abstracts sent by emails will not be accepted.
