Research Contribution in Book on Engaging the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

Research work of three academicians from Modern College of Business & Science (MCBS), Muscat, Oman has been chosen to be part of the book entitled “Engaging the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals” to be released globally in February 2020. The research paper co-authored by Mr Raihan Taqui Syed, Director – CEBI & Program Coordinator – Management & OB; Mr Manish Yadav, Program Coordinator – Aviation and Dr Hesham Magd, Head – Faculty of Business & Economics is titled “Entrepreneurial Mindset Development: Cog in the Wheel of Talent Management in Aviation Sector”. This work has been included as a chapter and is first of its kind, multidisciplinary work focusing on significance of developing entrepreneurial mindset among Next Generation Aviation Professionals (NGAP).

The origins of NGAP are traced back to 2009 when the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), headquartered in Montreal, Canada launched the NGAP initiative to ensure there were sufficient competent and qualified professionals to support the growing air transport sector. This initiative grew to become one of ICAO’s global programs and is currently supported by a network of dedicated academics, professionals, and regulators from around the world.

Dr Suzanne Kearns, Associate Professor of Aviation at the University of Waterloo, Canada and Editor of the book shares, “this volume was designed to bring together a diverse set of academic and professional perspectives within the three themes of attracting, educating, and retaining the NGAP. It is believed that this compilation is the first academic work on the NGAP topic–yet we expect this field to grow substantially in depth and breadth as the issue becomes increasingly critical in the coming years”. This first volume comprises of work by authors from Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Germany, Lebanon, Nigeria, Oman, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA, which brings in diverse views from academic and business perspectives.
