Significant Role of MCBS Students in 12th Muscat Securities Market Forum

The students from Modern College of Business and Science, enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Finance, made a remarkable impression on all visitors and the panel at the Muscat Security Market Forum. The Forum took place on 11th and 12th February at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre organized by Muscat Security Market.

The MSM forum aims at introducing the importance of the capital market sector and its impact on the national economy. It is also an opportunity to raise investment awareness about the capital market and its mechanisms among the students of higher education as well as other members of society.
Abdul Haleem Al Harthy, Ahmed Al Lawati, Manahil Al Nabhani and Mulk AL Farsi were the students who represented MCBS led by Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department Dr. Nikola Stakic.

The topic of MCBS presentation was related to a function and importance of stock market indices, with the special emphasis on MSM 30 – the main benchmark index in Muscat Securities Market. Apart from the main presentation and the poster material, the students had prepared another interesting presentation titled “Big Mac Index”, one of the main unofficial indicators used to determine the exchange rate valuation in international markets.
This event participation and presentation was one of the many valuable achievements of MCBS students in the past year, like Banking and Finance Conference and Expo in December 2017, best performance at The Global Top 100 ranking at the GLO-BUS business simulation competition, Financial Analysis Challenge in February and March 2017 organized by MSM.

This shows Modern College students’ continuous public outreach and exceptional educational quality provided by MCBS. The college believes that its students will continue to leave extraordinary impression in many events to come.
