The presentation included a brief history of the development of SMS, the establishment of standards set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for all member states, including Oman, and how the new SMS regulations being implemented by the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) is impacting the Omani civil aviation sector. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Al Kindy made some comments regarding the future challenges facing the implementation of SMS to further enhance civil aviation safety.

Dr. Dan Wong, Deputy Head of Department – Transport Studies, noted that MCBS Aviation faculty actively seek guest speakers from Omani civil aviation to share their unique expertise and viewpoints with students regarding contemporary civil aviation issues as a means of providing additional knowledge for up and coming airport and aviation management professionals.
