Originally from the USA, Dr. Wong is an Associate Professor and currently serving as the Deputy Head of Department overseeing MCBS’ transportation and logistics programs. He was previously an Assistant Professor at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2014-2017) and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri (2013-2014).

Prior to being conferred his PhD degree in 2013, he was a transportation planning administrator overseeing multiple aspects of the landside operations with the San Francisco International Airport for over 20+ years. He has a Master of Urban Planning degree from San Jose State University (1985) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Public Service from the University of California, Davis (1980). He has, and continues to be a frequent speaker at numerous international academic and industry conferences on contemporary airport issues, and has been published in both academic and industry publications.

Dr. Wong has previously been the Airports Committee Chair for the American Planning Association – Transportation Planning Division for several years, a member of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Land Use Compatibility Planning Advisory Committee, and a subject matter panelist with the Transportation Research Board’s Airport Cooperative Research Program. He currently serves as a member of the Transportation Research Board’s AV050 Standing Committee on Airport Terminals and Ground Access, the American Association of Airport Executives’ Academic Relations Committee, the Institute of Transportation Engineering, and the American Planning Association – Transportation Planning Division, as well as an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers – Transportation & Development Institute’s Aviation Planning and Operations Committee.
